Sunnyvale, CA – November 21, 2002 – Newnex demonstrated the impressive technological capabilities of the FireNEX Optical Repeater at this year’s Vision Show West, in collaboration with Sony’s IEEE 1394 monochrome camera.  The exhibit captured the practical application of the FireNEX with machine vision technology.

Sony’s XCD-X700 camera allows for high-resolution digital images that are transferred on a 400 Mbps IEEE 1394 digital interface.  This makes it simple and fast to connect to an external PC.  With the addition of the FireNEX Optical Repeater, it allows IEEE1394 signals to be sent across an optical fiber cable up to 500 meters in length and up to 400 Mbps in speed to a remotely located PC without compromising the performance of the camera. With its compact size, the camera is often used for various industrial applications and flexibility becomes a huge asset.  The XCD-X700 camera together with the FireNEX Optical Repeater creates a professional and complete vision system that delivers high-sensitive imaging for all potential users.  

A demonstration of this innovative application was shown at the Vision Show West, held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
