California — May 7, 2003 — Newnex announced
the release of its' new 1394b FireNEX Optical repeater at
the 2003 CONNECTIONS Conference in San Jose. A beta unit
was on hand for attendees to see. This 1394b optical repeater
allows IEEE1394b signals to be sent across an optical fiber
cable up to 500 meters in length and up to 800 Mbps in speed
without compromising the performance of the connected devices.
Currently in the final stages of development, this device
will be brought to market in late June. Connections™

Also being announced was their development of a lower cost
CAT-5 1394b repeater. This lower cost product will
allow 100Mbps transfer speed for 1394a or 1394b signals
across up to 100m of CAT-5 cable. It is designed for
home use and for light industrial applications.
