Sunnyvale, California — May 7, 2003 — Newnex announced the release of its' new 1394b FireNEX Optical repeater at the 2003 CONNECTIONS Conference in San Jose. A beta unit was on hand for attendees to see. Also being announced was their development of a lower cost CAT-5 1394b repeater.  This lower cost product will allow 100Mbps transfer speed for 1394a or 1394b signals across up to 100m of CAT-5 cable.  It is designed for home use and for light industrial applications.
