The FireNEX800™ Demos with Sony at SEMICON West2003

Sunnyvale, CA – July 15, 2003 – Newnex is demonstrating the impressive technological capabilities of the FireNEX800™ Optical Repeater at this year’s SEMICON West2003.  This is in collaboration with Sony’s IEEE 1394 monochrome camera.  The exhibit captures the practical application of the FireNEX with machine vision technology.  The FireNEX800™ is the world's first 1394b optical repeater!

Sony’s XCD-X710 camera allows for high-resolution digital images that are transferred at a speed of 400 Mbps across an IEEE 1394 digital interface.  This makes it simple and fast to connect to an external PC with the addition of the newly released FireNEX800™ Optical Repeater from Newnex.  It allows IEEE1394 signals to be sent across an optical fiber cable without compromising the performance of the camera. With its compact size, the camera is often used for various industrial applications.  Flexibility becomes a huge asset.  The XCD-X710 camera together with the FireNEX Optical Repeater creates a professional and complete vision system that delivers high-sensitive imaging for all potential users.  

The FireNEX800™ FireWire Optical Repeater can transfer signals up to 1000 meters in length and up to 800 Mbps in speed.  The FireNEX800™ can also work at lower speeds for 1394a based devices, such as 400 Mbps, 200Mbps and 100 Mbps.  This backward compatibility ensures that the FireNEX800™ works for both 1394b and 1394a connectivity.
