CA - Jan. 23, 2007 - Newnex will demo its' new S400 FireNEX-CAT5™ at the 1394 Trade Association 1st Quarterly Meeting in Kona, Hawaii, Jan. 29th through the 31st.
The S400 FireNEX-CAT5™ is the first in the world of its' kind!
The demo will showcase the interconnectivity of HANA, High Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance, devices as shown in the diagram. TV shows recorded on a DTVR will be able to be viewed over a 75m distance through the FireNEX-CAT5™ S400 to a HD TV node provided by Samsung. The DTVR is a computer running software made by Vividlogic. Also through the FireNEX-CAT5™ S400, all devices will be able to access the Samsung AVHDD storage, with is a 1394 network storage device for audio and video. The FireNEX-CAT5™ S400 operates seamlessly in a HANA 1394 network.

Industrial screw lock feature to hold cables securely.
Low power consumption, only 3W.
Full S400 speed. The maximum speed of 1394a.
Bus powered or self powered. An example of bus power: you may drive a bus powered 1394 camera at one end with no need for external power. In a hazardous or remote environment the convenience of not having to add external power to the device end is an important feature.
Uses flexible UTP cabling CAT5e, CAT6, etc. The advantages of using standard UTP copper cables enable low cost connections, terminations by the end user, and the possibility of using existing cabling infrastructure.
