Sunnyvale,
CA - November 15, 2004 - In coordination with the 1394 Trade Association, Newnex will be demoing its' CAT-5 1394 repeater, the FireNEX-CAT5™ at booth 1112. The exposition will be in Long Beach Nov. 16-18.
The FireNEX-CAT5™ allows 1394 to be transmitted at up to 100Mbps and up to 100m. It is 1394b compliant. The FireNEX-CAT5™ featrues compactness, portability and small power consumption.
A special feature of the FireNEX-CAT5™ is that it can be bus powered. While one end needs to be connected to a power source, the other end can be bus powered and also power a device, such as a 1394 camera.
The economicaly oriented FireNEX-CAT5™ opens up the potential of 1394 over long distances. Its' main application is for consumer electronic home networking. The system can be used in home for many types of applications. For example, we can put a 1394 camera in a room for a baby and connect it through a cat5 cable to a PC in the parent's room. The parent can monitor what happens in the baby's room without walking in and out of that room.
