Sunnyvale, CA - October 15, 2002
- Newnex, a developer of the 1394-enabled FireNEX Optical
Repeater, today announced its latest technology collaboration
with the Panasonic 3CCD Convertible Camera and Pan Tilt
System. The combination of the AW-E600 high performance
camera is the newest test application for the FireNEX Optical
Repeater, which since its introduction in 2001 has been
continuously undergoing test applications with various computer
peripherals, cameras, camcorders, TVs and other products.
The Panasonic 3CCD Convertible Camera (AW-E600) is a high precision
instrument that is customized for different shooting purposes. The addition
of the Pan Tilt System allows the camera to be positioned at various
angles, controlled remotely through FireWire /IEEE1394 protocol. The
function of the FireNEX Optical Repeater is to add a professional networking
system to this already comprehensive unit. The FireNEX allows FireWire/IEEE1394
signals to be sent across an optical fiber cable up to 500 meters in
length and up to 400 mbps in speed. Adjusting the camera position, focus
quality, zoom distance and other modifications on the computer is all
made possible through a connection of FireNEX with a 500-meter optical
fiber cable between the AW-E600 and the computer. Therefore, the AW-E600
system is no longer limited in distance from its control unit. This
flexibility allows new creative possibilities for users such as broadcasters
and film producers.
A demonstration of this innovative application will be shown at the
1394TA Fourth Quarter Meeting, which will be held at Apple Computer
in Cupertino, CA between Oct. 15 and Oct. 17. Please visit www.1394ta.org
