Sunnyvale, CA - July 24, 2002
- Newnex is contributing its expertise in 1394 technology
at Mitsubishi’s Digital Universe 2002 Training Tour.
Mitsubishi begins its four-month tour this month, traveling
to sixteen different cities all across the U.S. in order
to provide its retail partners the latest information in
Bigscreen TV, HDTV, DLP, IEEE 1394 and NetCommand technology.

As part of the joint efforts of 1394 Trade Association
members, Newnex is playing a large role in demonstrating
the easy interconnectivity and high performance of 1394
technology in Mitsubishi’s home networking systems
during the training tour. Essentially, Newnex is using its
RPT1394-O FireNEX 1394 Long Haul Optical Repeater to enable
longer transmissions between different consumer electronics.
The demonstration shown at the latest training session at
San Francisco displayed a digital camcorder connected to
a HDTV two hundred meters away using the FireNEX long haul
repeater. In addition, the picture taken by the digital
camcorder was successfully transmitted to two other HDTV’s
through IEEE1394 connections. The array of capabilities
and applications for IEEE1394 technology amazed the participating
trainees.
Newnex plans on demonstrating the FireNEX Cat5 Repeater soon;
demonstrating similar functionalities that are geared specifically
for home network users.
