Sunnyvale, CA - April 6, 1999
– Newnex Technology Corp. announced that it manufactures
1394a draft2.0 specification (p1394a) compliant cable assemblies.
Most 1394 A/V cables seen on the market can only transfer
up to 100 Mbps and are less effective for EMI reduction
since they are single shielded and are not compliant with
P1394a 2.0. Newnex 1394 A/V cables are double shielded and
the wiring is done according to the specification in P1394a
2.0. P1394a 2.0 compliant cables are capable to carry 400
Mbps and are EMC compliant. There are four standard lengths
of cables (1, 2, 3, 4.5 meters) available from Newnex either
in 6-4 position or in 4-4 position configurations.
P1394a 2.0 is the most current draft version
of the supplement to IEEE1394-1995 standard in which cable
construction and wiring diagram are listed to ensure the
cables are capable to carry 400 Mpbs with least effects
of EMI. P1394a defines the application specification of
IEEE 1394-1995 standard in the consumer electronics industry
for a new generation of digital video and audio products,
which are usually battery-powered, compact in size and EMI
sensitive. There are four circuits in 1394 A/V connector
systems, which are for signal transfer at rates up to 400
Mbps. The connector contacts are 30-microinch gold plated
on 0.8mm centerlines and meet the compactness requirements
of audio and video applications. The configurations of cable
assemblies can be either 6-4 position or 4-4 position. The
6-4 position cables are for connections between 1394 enabled
desktop computers and 1394 devices, such as Compaq Presario
5660, Apple G3 and Sony digital camcorder DCR-VX1000, while
the 4-4 position cables can be used to connect 1394 devices
to either 1394 equipped notebook computers (e.g. Sony digital
camcorder DCR-VX1000 to Sony notebook computer VAIO 505FX)
or to other 1394 devices (peer to peer).
In addition to 1394 A/V cable assemblies,
Newnex manufactures a broad range of 6 position cables and
connectors, which are compliant with 1394-1995 standards.
Newnex 1394-1995 connector systems come with six circuits
(4 signal and 2-power) for transfer rates up to 400 Mbps.
The connector contacts are 30-microinch gold plated on 2mm
centerlines. The 6 position right receptacle is SMT type
with back shell. Also, there are four standard lengths of
6-6 position cable assemblies (1, 2, 3, 4.5 meters) available
from Newnex.
